WAYNE AYERS - Folk Artist

Country FurnitureAntique Folk ArtCountry SmallsFeatured Items

Wayne Ayers creates decorative arts in the style of the 18th and 19th centuries. The artists’ subjects reflect that period’s uniquely American themes of patriotism, industry, commerce, frontier life and agriculture.

Wayne's pieces are spirited, sublime, whimsical or woeful- conveying the full range of early American experience.

While some works are original to the artists, most have been styled on well-known artifacts and museum pieces.

Each piece is handmade with reclaimed materials, painted and finished with a surface reminiscent of the antique originals. Great attention is given to creating a finished product that, while not an antique, gives the appearance and flavor of the original pieces.

Wayne uses a combination of period and modern hand tools, anvils, hand-shears, and a variety of hammers. Individual pieces are hand cut and hammered and no molds are used for full-bodied pieces. All soldering, painting, and aging is done by hand. Finally, each piece is hand stamped with the makers name and date.

Wayne Ayers has translated his love for antiques and folk art into replications of folk art masterpieces. Prior to this creative endeavor, Wayne was a mason for thirty-seven years specializing in restoration and recreations of 18th and 19th century chimneys, fireplaces and New England stone walls.

Wayne and Kathy live in Texas and are artfully creating their own home.
