Commemorating the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, or more commonly referred to as The Chicago World’s Fair... a symbol of the emerging American exceptionalism.

A one-of-a-kind folk art piece, constructed from a “Knights of Labor” cigar box, displays a geometric pattern and design of canceled US Postage, some issued specifically for the Exposition, cut and applied to a painted surface before being sealed to create its inlay effect.

All sides (except bottom) of the box are exuberantly decorated, speaking to the spirit and patriotic fervor its maker held for this event.
